Winter Safety visit from Didcot Fire Station
Following reports of children walking on the frozen lake near Aureus Primary School, today we had a visit from the team from Didcot Fire Station who spoke with Years 2-6 about winter safety and the risks involved around icy water. This was particularly pertinent following the tragic events which happened in the West Midlands a few days ago.
During their visit, the fire fighters showed children the protective equipment that would need to be involved in any rescue; all staff and children were shocked by just how long all of this equipment takes to get on and the implications this could have for anyone in the water.
Staff will continue to emphasise the messages from the fire fighters with children in there classes and we hope that you will support this in conversations at home too.
