Year 3 Wheels Day
As part of their Science learning, Year 3 have been asking 'How do surfaces affect moving objects?'. On Wednesday, they brought in bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller blade to test this. They were able to explore how the surface the object was ridden on would affect the outcome of the push (the force). This is because some surfaces are rougher than others – when two surfaces rub together, we call this friction.
The children were then able to discuss how their understanding of friction would help them when designing their final product, a model car that is powered by magnets.
