Safety Visit from the Fire and Rescue Service
Today the Fire and Rescue Service visited our year 2 and 3 children. They began by teaching the children three important facts;
Firstly to 'Get out and stay out'. The children were taught that if they heard a fire alarm at home they were to shout Fire! loudly and then leave the house as quickly as possibly, not to take things with them and to stay out and call 999.
Then they were taught 'matches, lighters never touch, they will hurt you very much.' The children repeated the rhyme until tey all knew it off by heart.
Finally they learnt about 'stop, drop and roll' which one of our year three children demonstrated beautifully. The children then had time to ask lots of interesting questions.
After the safety talk all the children got a chance to look around the engine, see the unform and breathing apparatus and hold the cutting jaws that are used in car crashes. They were extremely heavy! We then enjoyed watching the firefighters use the hose and pretend to put a fire out on the playground. We are so greatful for the opportunity to see our local fire fighters and learn so many great facts.
